Montana's veteran specialty coffee roaster, founded in 1981 by a former logger and backcountry guide who started the business with a $4,000 bank loan. Still roasts at its own facility just south of Whitefish, with both a downtown counter-service shop and a roastery-cafe location that runs a weekly roast tour and tasting.

• Huck's Place functions differently by day versus night — plan around whether you want coffee or its evening wine-bar service, and note it's closed entirely Monday and Tuesday.
