Groton-New London Airport (GON), just 6-8 miles from Mystic, is technically the closest — but it's had no scheduled commercial passenger service since 2004 and today functions as a charter and general-aviation field only; local officials have periodically lobbied airlines to return without success, so don't plan around flying into it. T.F. Green Airport (PVD) in Providence, about 42 miles (roughly 45-50 minutes) away, is the best default: nine airlines serve it with a genuinely broad domestic network. Bradley International (BDL) near Hartford, about 65-68 miles (roughly 75-80 minutes) away, is a reasonable secondary option, particularly if you need Bradley's one international route (Aer Lingus to Dublin) or broader fare choice. Boston Logan, about 100 miles away, is realistic only if you're combining a Boston trip with Mystic.
