Introduction

Kennebunkport's dining scene ranges from a historic Dock Square pub to fine dining at a resort just outside town. We checked eight restaurants below, all confirmed currently operating and genuinely located within Kennebunkport — a few well-known "Kennebunkport" restaurants turned out to actually be across the river in Kennebunk and are excluded here for that reason.

Alisson's Restaurant

A Dock Square fixture serving casual seafood and American pub fare, with both a pub menu and dining-room service. Family-owned for over 45 years.

• Indoor dining plus a deck/porch option in season.

The Boathouse Waterfront Restaurant

A seafood restaurant with Asian influences directly on the Kennebunk River, with a full lobster bar.

• Daily 11:30am-9pm per the official site, with no seasonal closures noted; one older social-media post suggested different hours, but the official site's current figure is the more reliable source.

• *Reservations:

• Walk-ins only for the general public; hotel guests at the attached Boathouse Waterfront Hotel can request a 30-minute priority waitlist, not a true reservation.

• Happy hour Mon-Thu 3-5pm; sits directly on the Kennebunk River as part of the hotel.

Earth at Hidden Pond

A AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star fine-dining restaurant on the grounds of the Hidden Pond resort, built around relationships with local farmers, fishermen, and foragers. Operates year-round.

• *Hours:

• Nightly 4:30-9pm with no closure days, confirmed across two separate official pages — one secondary source suggested Tuesday/Wednesday closures, but two independent official pages agree it's open nightly, so we're weighting those higher.

• *Reservations:

• Required for the main dining room, and the resort states it's unable to accommodate walk-ins during peak season (June-September), with Hidden Pond hotel guests given priority. Bar seating is walk-in only, with its own à la carte or prix fixe menu.

• *Good to know:

• A genuine splurge — private dining room minimums alone range from $600 to $10,500 depending on space and season.

Nunan's Lobster Hut

A family-run, cash-only lobster-in-the-rough shack in Cape Porpoise, serving lobster dinners since the 1950s.

• Currently in season for 2026, running May 21 through October 17, open nightly from 5pm.

Casa Seventy Seven

A Mediterranean-influenced seafood restaurant with harbor views in Cape Porpoise. Worth a history note: it opened on the site of the former Pier 77 and The Ramp Bar & Grill, both of which closed after storm damage before this restaurant took over the space.

• The official site simply states daily 11am-8pm, though independent sources describe a seasonal split with Mondays closed in summer — worth confirming directly before a Monday visit.

Port Fish & Chop House

An elevated seafood and steakhouse at the Breakwater Inn. Worth a rename flag: this opened after a full-scale renovation replaced the previous restaurant at this address, Stripers Waterside Restaurant.

• Genuinely unresolved — the official site lists Monday open, Tuesday closed, Wednesday-Sunday open, while an independent source instead shows Monday-Wednesday all closed with a different weekend schedule including Sunday brunch. Hurricane Restaurant

A Dock Square classic overlooking the Kennebunk River, offering both a casual pub menu and a formal dinner menu.

• Dinner nightly 4-10pm per the official site, with happy hour 4-5pm; one independent source describes a more complex split schedule including weekend lunch service the official site doesn't mention, so weekend lunch availability isn't confirmed.

• Phone reservations available at (207) 967-9111; neither source confirms whether walk-ins are accepted, so call ahead especially for weekend dinner.

• The winter closure is real and specifically confirmed for December 13, 2026 this year.

Restaurants We Excluded

The White Barn Inn's restaurant and The Clam Shack, both frequently marketed and described as "Kennebunkport" institutions, are actually located across the river in the separate town of Kennebunk. Both are excluded here on that basis, even though they're well worth a visit if you're willing to cross the bridge.

Practical Tips

• Earth at Hidden Pond is worth booking ahead given its Five Star recognition and limited peak-season availability.

• Nunan's Lobster Hut is cash-only and seasonal — plan accordingly.

• Don't assume every restaurant marketed as "Kennebunkport" is actually in Kennebunkport — several well-known spots sit across the river in Kennebunk.

• Several restaurants had genuine hour conflicts between sources (Mabel's Lobster Claw, Casa Seventy Seven, Port Fish & Chop House) — call ahead if exact timing matters.
