Estes Park's well-known taffy shops, including one operating since 1935, are a genuine local tradition worth visiting — but they're candy manufacturers and retailers, not cafes, so we've left them off this list and cover them instead in our things-to-do guide.

• Cinnamon's Bakery sells out early in peak season — arrive earlier in the morning rather than later if you want their signature item.

• Kind Coffee is the pick specifically if locally roasted coffee matters more than a particular ambiance.

• Notchtop Bakery & Cafe works well as either a coffee stop or a full breakfast, given its dual cafe-restaurant identity.

• River Walk Café's hours are genuinely inconsistent across sources — confirm same-day if timing matters.

• Downtown parking runs paid May 24-October 20 ($2/hour, 10am-5pm) in eight lots; free all-day parking is a short walk away, and a free downtown trolley serves stops along Elkhorn Avenue.
