Introduction

Sedona's dining scene includes some of the most dramatically sited restaurants in Arizona, though not every well-regarded spot has a red-rock view — we're explicit about which ones do below. We checked eight restaurants, all confirmed currently operating; several well-known Sedona restaurants turned out to have closed in recent years and are excluded here.

Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill

A fine-dining restaurant built on a hillside with genuine, dramatic red-rock views, serving chef-driven Latin American cuisine with an emphasis on steaks and South American flavors.

• *Hours:

• Sources don't fully agree — the best-supported figures are lunch daily 11am-2pm and dinner Sun-Thu 4:30-9pm, Fri-Sat 4:30-10pm, though Sedona's own tourism board lists a slightly different lunch/dinner window. Call (928) 862-4444 to confirm before visiting.

• *Reservations:

• Officially "recommended," but reviewers consistently describe dinner as effectively booked out 3-4 weeks in advance — treat it as close to required.

• *Good to know:

• Resort-casual dress code (no hiking gear or flip-flops), valet parking, and a $$$ price tier (~$75+ per person reported). The patio is the draw for sunset views, so request it when booking.

Che Ah Chi at Enchantment Resort

The name translates to "red rocks," and every seat here, indoor or out, faces the walls of Boynton Canyon — a genuine red-rock-view restaurant. Open to non-resort guests with a reservation.

• *Hours:

• Breakfast 6:30-11am, lunch roughly 11am-3/3:30pm, dinner 5-9pm, daily per the official site.

• *Reservations:

• Required, by phone or OpenTable. Sources disagree on whether outside (non-resort) guests currently have full public access or only seasonal/limited access — call ahead to confirm before planning a visit.

• *Good to know:

• Resort-casual dress code, valet or self-parking, $$$ tier, and a small room (roughly 32 seats outside, 84 inside) — book early for a sunset table overlooking Boynton Canyon.

Cress on Oak Creek

The restaurant at L'Auberge de Sedona, set creekside along Oak Creek. Worth noting: this is a creekside setting, not a red-rock view — the canyon walls dominate rather than open rock formations.

• *Hours:

• Breakfast Mon-Sat 7-11am (one source lists 10:30am close, worth confirming), Sunday brunch 7am-2pm, lunch Mon-Sat 11am-2pm, dinner Mon-Thu 5-8pm last seating, Fri-Sun 5-9pm last seating, bar daily 2-9pm.

• *Reservations:

• Strongly recommended, required for dinner.

• Good to know: $$$$ tier (dinner for two commonly runs $100-250+), resort-casual dress, valet parking, floor-to-ceiling windows over Oak Creek with a seasonal creekside patio — best experienced in daylight rather than after dark.

Elote Cafe

A modern Mexican and Southwestern restaurant from a chef who was a 2020 James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef Southwest, drawing on decades of culinary travel through Oaxaca, Veracruz, and Puebla.

• *Hours:

• Tuesday-Saturday from 5pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Closing time is commonly cited around 9pm but isn't posted on the official site.

• *Reservations:

• Required — the restaurant's older no-reservations, arrive-and-wait-list system has changed; bookings now open up to 60 days ahead by phone or email. Some same-day flexibility may still exist if you call.

• *Good to know:

• Around $50-60 per person, small and intimate, books out within its 60-day reservation window. Free on-site lot plus free public parking nearby.

Cowboy Club Grille & Spirits

A family-owned Southwestern steakhouse open since 1993, in a building that dates back to a tavern and post office from the town's early history. The draw here is history and theming rather than scenery.

• *Hours:

• Daily 11am-9pm, open 364 days a year (closed only on Christmas).

• *Reservations:

• Mostly walk-in; limited phone reservations available for two nightly seatings (5pm and 6:30pm).

• *Good to know:

• Still serves exotic-game dishes (rattlesnake sausage, cactus, elk loin chops); casual Western dining room with no dress code; free parking behind the building; entrées commonly run $10

Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano

A fine-dining Italian restaurant open since 1995, repeatedly recognized by local outlets as Sedona's best Italian option.

• *Hours:

• Dinner only, from 5pm; most sources converge on Mon-Thu and Sun 5-9pm, Fri-Sat 5-10pm. *Important:

• at last check, the restaurant's own site listed a temporary closure for a kitchen and dining-room renovation running roughly late June through late August — call (928) 282-5219 or check the official site before visiting, since this kind of closure window can shift.

• *Reservations:

• Recommended via phone, OpenTable, or SevenRooms; walk-ins aren't stated as refused.

• Good to know: $$$ fine dining, small and intimate (roughly 96 seats inside, 24 on the patio), live jazz piano, an award-winning wine list.

Coffee Pot Restaurant

A casual, long-running breakfast and brunch institution known for its extensive omelette menu (still branded "Home of 101 Omelettes").

• *Hours:

• Daily 6am-2pm, consistent across every source checked, no seasonal variation found.

• *Reservations:

• Not accepted — walk-in/sign-in waitlist, all party sizes accommodated.

• Good to know: $$ tier (breakfast commonly $12-18), free on-site parking with overflow at a nearby lot.

Hideaway House

A family-owned Italian restaurant known for pizza and fresh pasta, with three open-air patios genuinely set among red-rock views, on the Adobe Grand Villas property overlooking Oak Creek Canyon.

• *Hours:

• Sources disagree by about 30 minutes on both ends — roughly 11am-9pm Sunday-Thursday and 11am-10pm Friday-Saturday is the safest approximation. Call (928) 202-4082 to confirm.

• *Reservations:

• Recommended, not stated as strictly required.

• Good to know: $$$ tier, sizeable seating (roughly 75 outdoor, 100 indoor) that still fills up given its popularity — book ahead for a canyon-view patio table.

Restaurants We Excluded

Oaxaca Restaurante & Cantina, a rooftop restaurant with genuine red-rock views that had operated since 1971, closed for good in April 2025 — its own website now carries a farewell message. It still appears on many older "best of Sedona" lists and should not be treated as currently operating. Two other longtime spots, Shugrue's Hillside Grill and Barking Frog Grille, have also closed and been replaced by different restaurants at the same addresses. And Reds, the restaurant at the former Sedona Rouge Hotel, no longer exists under that name — the hotel itself rebranded as The Wilde Resort and Spa, with a new restaurant now in that space.

Practical Tips

• Mariposa, Che Ah Chi, and Hideaway House are the strongest picks specifically for red-rock views — Cress on Oak Creek has a lovely but different, creekside setting.

• Elote Cafe and Che Ah Chi both require reservations; Mariposa and Cress on Oak Creek are reservations-required in practice even if not stated that strictly. Only Cowboy Club, Coffee Pot, and Hideaway House are realistically walk-in friendly, and even those get busy.

• Several restaurants had genuinely conflicting hours across sources (Mariposa, Cress, Hideaway House) or a temporary closure notice at last check (Dahl & Di Luca) — call ahead before a special-occasion visit rather than relying on any single listing, including this one.

• Double-check any source recommending Oaxaca Restaurante — it closed in 2025 and no longer operates.

• Sedona has no commercial airport of its own; most visitors fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor (about 2 hours away) and drive up — see our travel guide's "Getting There" section for the full breakdown, including the limited-service Flagstaff option.

Sources and Verification Notes

Each restaurant's operating status, address, and character were checked against its own site and cross-checked against Yelp or TripAdvisor. Oaxaca's closure and the Sedona Rouge to Wilde Resort rebrand were both independently confirmed against the businesses' own current sites and local coverage before being excluded or noted. Hours and reservation policies were checked directly against each restaurant's own website and cross-referenced against at least one independent listing; where sources genuinely disagreed (noted above per restaurant), we said so rather than picking one figure arbitrarily. Yelp and Tripadvisor blocked direct page fetches during this research pass, so those two sources were consulted via search-engine-indexed snippets rather than live pages.
