Introduction

Door County has an unusually dense cluster of independent bakeries, concentrated especially in Egg Harbor and Sister Bay. We checked all nine below — all are operating, with a couple of significant corrections to the original listings.

Brown Butter Bakeshop

A Sister Bay bakery known for house-made brioche pastries in rotating seasonal flavors and custom celebration cakes with Swiss meringue buttercream, using heritage stone-ground flour and European butter. Cultured

A weekend-only (Saturday and Sunday) micro sourdough bakery in Sister Bay specializing narrowly in bagels, sourdough bread, and fermented goods like sauerkraut and kimchi. Its founder is locally known as "The Bread Lady."

Scaturo's Baking Co & Cafe

A family-run Sturgeon Bay bakery of more than 20 years, known for homemade breads, donuts, pecan rolls, cherry pies made with Door County cherries, and kringles.

Pink Bakery

An Egg Harbor bakery known for cinnamon rolls, danishes, long johns, sticky buns, and specialty and wedding cakes, twice voted "Best Bakery of Door County" by a regional magazine.

Klaud's Kitchen

Worth a location correction: Klaud's Kitchen relocated from Sister Bay to Ephraim, into the former Fresh Take building, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, pizzas, pastries, coffee, beer, and wine. If you see it listed under Sister Bay, that's now outdated.

Fika Bakery & Coffeehouse

Known for its "fabulous four" — giant cinnamon rolls, cardamom rolls, cherry rolls, and pecan sticky buns — plus the savory "Ole Roll." Fika moved from Fish Creek to its current Egg Harbor location; some older listings still show the earlier Fish Creek address.

MacReady Artisan Bread Company

An Egg Harbor bakery specializing in slow-fermented, naturally leavened artisan breads — sourdough, multigrain, French baguettes — hand-shaped daily, alongside soups and sandwiches.

Fish Creek Bakery

A family-owned Fish Creek bakery and gourmet-gift shop known generally for croissants, danishes, scones, and cookies, without one single standout signature item widely documented.

The Bakery at Sway Brewing + Blending

Worth a framing correction: "Sway Bakery" isn't an independently branded business — it's the morning bakery program (Wednesday through Sunday, 7:30-11:30am) run inside Sway Brewing + Blending, a Baileys Harbor brewery and taproom, using flour from a Door County-area grain supplier. The brewery closes for an approximately eight-week seasonal break each winter.

Practical Tips

• Egg Harbor's three bakeries (Pink Bakery, Fika, MacReady) are all genuinely distinct, separately owned businesses, not a data-quality artifact — Egg Harbor is simply one of the county's denser dining villages.

• Klaud's Kitchen and Fika have both changed villages recently — double-check current addresses if you're working from an older source.

• The bakery at Sway is a limited-morning-hours program inside a brewery, not a standalone all-day bakery — plan your visit around its narrower window.
